Enjoy
an interactive, healing and transformative experience of visual art, poetry,
dance and music with three women artists: Maria Mar, Corazon Tierra and
Tanya Torres.
When
you enter the Poetry Botánica, you find
yourself in an environment reminiscent of the Latino botánicas found in the
old barrios, places that are almost extinct now. You remember the colorful
mixture of herbs, spells and potions, a mixture of icons from
all religions, CDs and popular art and every type of remedy. The recreation
of the Poetry Botánica, an interactive art installation by Maria Mar with the
artistic collaboration of Tanya Torres, is a version of this colorful
botánicas, but the "cura" that is sold in the
Poetry Botánica is art in all its form.

PERFORMANCES
First Part
Maria Mar in
Release the
Rush!
Release Time-related Stress Response
Stress related to
time, multi-tasking and the fear-reflex associated with the body's response
to stress. Maria Mar uses dance-theatre and poetry to offer a mirror of what
happens to the body during a stressful response to time. She engages the
audience in recognizing the physical symptoms. She then helps the audience
"unwind" with a relaxing, graceful "dance" that relaxes the body,
deepens breath and opens the flow of energy. Quick, practical solution to
stress offered in a beautiful, artful and ceremonial structure.
