How the Trees
Healed Me
By Maria Mar
The poems and life
teachings in this book were dictated to me by the trees. This conversation
between the trees and I took place in 2000, when I lost everything I had,
including my home, in a housing disaster.
As I was
convalescing from allergies and exhaustion, I connected to the trees to
renew my energy. The trees communicated beautiful teachings for life that I
jotted down just as I heard them. These teachings where Medicines that
healed my spirit and nourished my soul. I gained strength, Inner Peace and
joy as I heard these beautiful thoughts. The poems, told in an ancient voice
of millenary wisdom, seemed to talk from the matrix of silence.
I then created
illustrations to communicate the spirit of the trees as I experienced it.
The black and white illustrations in this digital poetry book capture the
spirits of trees in surprising line drawings. I made the illustrations black
and white to continue on that Zen-like style of thinking. The abundant empty
space and clean black lines were like the silent voices of the trees.
When people read
the poems while seeing the illustrations, their mind quiets down, they heart
beat slows down and they enter a Zen-like meditation state.
I have also
recorded the poems in MP3 format because I do sound healing, and you can
benefit from my voice as a healing instrument by hearing the poems, too.
I want to pass on
the healing gift that the trees gave me by sharing this with you. I also
want to return the gift to the trees, by helping save trees. I am networking
with environmental organizations to help them raise funds through the sales
of this poetry collection.
