Interactive experiences for self-transformation and empowerment of specific communities, specially women, families, Latinos and multicultural communities.
 

Unique Arts and crafts. Dolls, hand-crafted books and other crafts, wearable art and other unique items.
 

Alternative Healers. In some set-ups, alternative healers, such as herbalists, food consultants, acupuncturists, massagers, Reiki healers and other practitioners may join the Poetry Botánicaä with interactive botánica set-ups.
 

Botánica kiosks where each colorful, syncretic display is presented as part of a botánica. From vibrantly painted display cabinets and tropical tableware to shelves with "potions" (in this case, poetry potions) and interactive booths, the Poetry Botánicaä kiosks are fun and offer real value. The installation is both, an art form and a arts & crafts fair set up where your members or clients can purchase art, books, CDs and other products signed by their authors, meet the artists and participate in creative, empowering activities.

*20% of each sales goes to business or institution housing/hosting the event.
 

Education on the living folklore of the Latino syncretic botánicas as the transmitters of ancient wisdom, keepers of old herbal knowledge and precursors of religious tolerance. The tour guides and leaflets will take participants through an unforgettable experience of the Latino Botánicas and reconnect them to the ancestral healing power of art.

One Technical director and 3 technical crew. Requires house lighting and sound crew.

4 Botánica attendants.

5-7 botánica kiosks, 4 interactive.

Full-scale environmental installation reproducing a botánica.

 3+ hours. 90 minutes show plus exhibition time. Can include up to 40 minutes before and 2 hours after show to browse, participate and shop in the installation.

Good for corporate sponsorships, fundraising events, museums events and institutional set-ups that can provide large space, rehearsal time and overnight set-up/strike.

 Available beginning Fall 2009.

Minimum required space: Enclosed lobby, exhibition room or lounge close to performance area. Semi-arena or flexible space performance area with lighting/sound facilities preferred.

Poet, performer, storyteller, visual artist and shaman (Spiritual Teacher and Healer).

Maria creates and set ups her concept in collaboration with artist Tanya Torres.

She also performs her "LifeBites", combining performance, poetry, transformative experiences and interactive ceremonies.

Maria Mar also offers her products in an interactive botánica kiosk, including wearable art, books, posters and CDs and other products for sales.

Maria's performance, interactive kiosk and art is included in all  Poetry Botánicaä productions.

Poet, performer, bailaora and shaman.

Corazon performs her poetry performances which include poetry, dance elements such as Flamenco and Afro-Caribbean movements and music.

Corazon sometimes also offers her own Botánica interactive kiosk, featuring wearable art, CDs and books and other products for sale.

Corazón's performance and art is included in most Poetry Botánicaä productions, upon availability.

Tanya offers her own Botánica kiosk, featuring her interactive arts and crafts experiences, as well as her famous hand-crafted books, drawings, posters, greeting cards, painting and other unique creations for sale.

Tanya is a key presence in the art set-up of the Poetry Botánicaä environment, assisting Maria Mar in the creation of the live installation and contributing her own powerful art and images towards the environment's set up.

Tanya often includes her poetry and storytelling as part of the performance.

Tanya's art kiosk and presence is included in most Poetry Botánicaä productions, upon availability.
