| DETAIL: Ochún illuminates the Oracle. Here Maria Mar depicts the energy of Ochún, the Light of love. This energy is recognized in entities like Kuan Yin, Venus, Aphrodite, Mary Magdalene, The Virgin and other images of the Female Face of God, or the Goddess. In this detail, the energy of Ochún illuminates a gypsy that is reading the tarot cards. The gypsy's body becomes the river. In the 3-d installation, the energy of Ochún was portrayed by a sculpture that contained a mirror in the center of her body. The Gypsy was a life-size doll with no face. The black body with no face represents the Sacred Mystery to which Ochún connects the Psychic in order for her to divine. In this sketch, Maria also included "La India" the image of an Indian Spiritual Guide, but she placed her own face. This reminds us that the power of all our Spiritual Guides can be found within if we just take the time to look. Maria Mar(c)1998. | |||

River Mother, Wake up my Gypsy Dancer. Wake up my passion, let it rise in rivers of vitality, in gales of laughter, in streams of delight. River Mother, I welcome joy in my life. Let the Gypsy Dancer in your waters dance my passion back to life, that I touch life deeply, that I am touched by life. River Mother, awaken my Gipsy Oracle. She, who sees beyond what eyes can see. She who is in touch with the Great Mystery. She who knows. She who smells in the wind what is to come. Awaken my Gypsy Oracle, that I may see the patterns I am drawing with my choices. That I may transform my life to honor my dreams.
